First Reading: Hebrews 5: 1 - 6 (English):
In this reading, St. explains that Jesus did not glorify himself
when he became a high priest. He was chosen by God who anointed
him forever.
Second Reading: Romans 12:9 - 21 (Lebanese):
St. Paul wants us to love one another by helping each other and
by sharing the happiness and grief of our neighbor. He also asks
us to forgive those who trespass against us because God will
be our revenge. We must conquer the evil by doing God's will.
Gospel: Matthew , 25: 21 - 46 (English &
Lebanese):
In this Gospel reading, we see Christ the King, who is sitting
on his glorious throne to judge the nations. He will separate
the sheep from the goats. The righteous will be on his right
and the accursed on his left.

All Souls
November 2nd
The early Christians, like their pagan ancestors, remembered
their dead on certain day of the year. The present date for our
yearly commemoration of the dead was established in the tenth
century. We remember the dead prayerfully so that God will "
strengthen our hope that all our departed brothers and sisters
will share in Christ's resurrection." In the words of Vatican
Council II, "Fully conscious of the Mystical Body of Jesus
Christ, the Church on earth honors with great respect the memory
of the dead, and because it is holy and wholesome thought to
pray for the dead that they may be freed from their sins (2 Mac.
12, 46), she offers her suffrages for them."
Lord God, Maker of all, Master of life and death, guard and gift
of our souls, receive those who go before us on the pilgrimage
of death; in due time receive us too when our days are done."
All Souls
November 1st
The feast which has its beginnings in the Christian churches
of the fifth and sixth centuries celebrates all those saints,
canonized or not, who enjoy the happiness of the kingdom of heaven.
Our relatives and friends, multitudes unknown, stand before God's
throne in joyful praise. They are remembered this day. God's
amazing grace has brought them home. The feast of All Saints
turns our eyes to that "great cloud of witnesses" who
are with God, yet still with us. We share in their love and are
inspired by their example. They attract us to journey to the
Kingdom of God.
For all the saints who from their labors rest, who thee by faith
before the world confessed, thy name O Jesus, be forever blest
! Alleluia , alleluia !
