RENEWAL OF THE CHURCH

First Reading: Hebrews 7: 23 - 28 (English):
In this reading, St. explains that Jesus, unlike other high priests, holds his priesthood forever. He doesn't need to offer sacrifices day after day.

Second Reading: Hebrews 9:11 - 15 (Lebanese):
St. explains that Jesus, the High Priest, died for our sins. He was the sacrifice offered for our salvation. By his death and resurrection, Jesus gave us the promised land.

Gospel: John , 10: 22 - 42 (English & Lebanese):
In this Gospel reading, we see Jesus stoned by the Jews for blasphemy. After the many god works he did for them in the Father's name, they still don't believe him, instead, they tried to arrest him.

St. Michael's
November 8th

He is one of the three angels, with Gabriel and Raphael, liturgically venerated by the Church. He appears twice in the Old Testament as the helper of the Chosen People (Dan, 10:13ff.; 12:0) and twice in the New Testament where he disputes with the devil over Moses' body; (Jude v. 9) and Revelations where he and his angels fought the dragon and hurled him and his followers from heaven (Rev. 12:7-9). He repeatedly appears in apocryphal literature and was early regarded in the Church as the captain of the heavenly host, the protector of the Christian against the devil, especially at the hour of death, when he conducts the soul to God, and as the helper of Christian armies against heathen armies. His cult apparently originated in Phrygia but soon spread to the West.

Prayer for Christ's coming in Grace

O Lord Jesus, during this Advent come to us in your grace. Come to prepare our hearts, minds, and bodies to welcome you on Christmas Day. Come to comfort us in sadness, to cheer us in loneliness, to refresh us in weariness, to strengthen us in temptations, to lead us in time of doubt, and to exult with us in joy.
