January, 9, 2000 First Week after Epiphany
First Reading: 1 John 5: 1-9 (English):
In this reading St. John explains that when someone loves the parent loves the child. That is why we love God when we love his children and obey hi s commandments without feeling that they are burdensome.
Second Reading: Galatians 1:11-17 (lebanese):
In this reading, St. Paul wants us to know that he learned about Jesus not from a human but he was inspired by Jesus Christ that reveals himself to him.
Gospel: John 2:29-42 (English & Lebanese):
In this Gospel reading, John testifies once more that Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.

Opening of the Jubilee Year: On Saturday, January 15th, 2000, His Excellency Mgr. Joseph Khoury will celebrate the Mass in St. Anthony's Parish at 6:00 PM, to mark the opening of the Jubilee Year. After the Mass, His Excellency will bless the new Church Hall. Wine and cheese to follow. Everyone is welcome to attend.
His Excellency Mgr. Joseph Khoury will be meeting for lunch with the Parish Pastoral and Finance Committee, Our Lady of Lebanon Auxiliary, Committee 2000 and the Leamington Lebanese Club Board Members. This event will take place on Saturday, January 15th, 2000 at 12:30 PM at the Leamington Lebanese Club.
Meeting with the Bishop: Committee 2000, Parish Pastoral Council & Finance Committee will have a meeting with His Excellency on Sunday, January 16th, 2000 at 3:00 PM in St. Anthony' s Church Hall.
Msgr. Joseph Salame would like to thank each and everyone of you who prayed for him this past week. He also thanks all those who called to ask about him when he was sick. Thank you and may God bless you with health and happiness through the Jubilee Year and all the days of your lives.
Trip to the Vatican and Jerusalem: St. Anthony's Parish is organizing a trip to Jerusalem, the Holy Land and the Vatican, from February 7th, 'til February 17th. If you are interested, please register your name on the sheet available at the Church entrance. The Deadline for registration is: January 10th , 2000. $200.00 deposit is required. The trip will be cancelled if we don't have 50 persons by January 10th. If the trip from our Parish is cancelled, and you are still interested in going, please contact St. Peter's Parish @ 973-7240 to be a part of their group going on the same trip and the same date.

St. Anthony's Novena: will continue at 5:30 PM every night, Everyone is welcome to attend and pray for our Parish Patron.
First Communion Preparation Course will start in January. All the children who are ready to receive this Holy Sacrament, please register your name on the bulletin board.
Children Gowns: All the children who still have the white gowns they used for the Christmas play, please return them to the Church as soon as possible. Thank you!
Church Étiquette: Please be aware that Our Church is a Smoke - Free building.
Please don't chew gum in the Church and use ashtrays provided at the Church entrance to dispose of gum wrappers and cigarettes. Thank you !

Alzheimer Society: In Windsor and Essex County is celebrating a nondenominational Light & Hope Memorial Service in St. Barnabas Church at 2115 Chilver Rd. on Sunday, January 9th, 2000 at 2:00 PM. Refreshments after Service.
