First Reading: St. Peter 2: 3 - 8 (English):
In this reading, St. Peter explains that the Lord keeps his promise.
He waits with patience for everyone to repent. The Lord's day
will come at an unexpected hour.
Second Reading: Ephesians, 1 :1 - 14 (Lebanese):
St. Paul explains that because of his love, God had already decided
that through Jesus Christ he would make us his children. St.
Paul asks us to praise God for his glorious grace and for the
free gift he gave us in his dear Son.
Gospel: Luke , 1: 39 - 45 (English & Lebanese):
In this Gospel reading, Mary got ready and hurried off to a town
in the hill country of Judea, to visit Elizabeth. This visit
is a proof of the happiness that Mary brought into our lives
by being the handmaid of the Lord. Even the baby within Elizabeth
jumped with gladness when Mary greeted her relative.

The Immaculate Conception of Mary
December 8th
The Solemn feast of Mary's Immaculate Conception, celebrated
nine months before the feast of her birth (September 8), recalls
the Christian belief that Mary was preserved from all stain of
original sin from the moment of her Conception by her mother,
Ann. Because of her unique role as the Mother of Jesus, God endowed
her with special graces and gifts. Like a new Eve, she brought
new life to the world through her Divine Son. The feast is also
a reminder that the whole Church shares in Mary's privileges
in some way. For this reason the feast day prayer asks God to
"trace in our actions the lines on her love, in our hearts
her readiness of faith." The Bishops of the United States,
with firm belief in Mary's intercession, confided their new nation
to her care under the title of her Immaculate Conception.
Mary Immaculate, Star of the morning, chosen before the creation
began, chosen to bring, for thy bridal adorning, woe to the serpent
and rescue to man. Bend from thy throne at the voice of or crying,
bend to this earth which thy footsteps have trod. ; stretch out
thine arms to us, living and dying, Mary Immaculate, Mother of
God.
