Sunday of the Hemorrhaging Woman.
February 28th, 2010
أحد المنزوفة.
28 شباط سنة 2010

Gospel: Luke 8: 40 – 56

Readings: 2 Corinthians 7: 4 – 11

The illness of the hemorrhaging woman is personal. She suffers from it by herself. It is not obvious to others. She keeps thinking about a solution to her condition, which is not known and does not put others at risk. Jesus’ passage where “they were waiting for him” was for her a new chance to be healed.

She approached him with faith and touched him asking to be healed. The divinity of the Saviour protects everyone according to their need, unlike Peter who was taken by the crowd. For this reason Jesus answered the hemorrhaging woman who asked to be cured in her heart.

The contact is an important factor in the healing. She felt the power that restored her back to health. We have to get close to the Lord to feel his presence. Jesus’ reaction is educational. He wanted to show that faith is the reason for the healing.

Jesus wants us to have faith not to use it to be cured. Our personal experience with the Lord should reflect the true love of God for his children.

Knights of Columbus News:

-    Our Council thanks the community for the good participation in our 5th Annual Banquet. Our local businesses, both family run and large corporations gave generously to our Haiti Earthquake Relief Fundraising efforts.

The largest contribution to our fundraising came from cash donations made by individuals, for which tax receipts will be issued by the Canadian Red Cross. We and more importantly, the poor people of Haiti deeply appreciate all your support.

Prayer for al the sick people

Lord Jesus, it is not your will that your people should suffer. And yet, I remember so well how you took on suffering for us all. Keep your servant (Name) now from losing hope as he/she faces once again his/her infirmity.

(Name) feels the pain and asks God, “Let this cup pass from me.” Take (Name) into your gentle embrace, for I know that whatever this day brings, you have paved their way with your tears and redeemed them with your victory. Amen.
