St. Nehmetallah Hardini, December 14th
Joseph Kassab was born in the year 1808. His father was George
Kassab and his mother Mariam Raad. He entered the school of the
monks of St. Anthony of Hboub from 1816 to 1822. He entered the
monastery of St. Anthony of Kozhaya and became a novice, November
1828.
There he adopted the name of Fr. Nehmetallah Kassab Hardini and
learned to bind books. He professed his first vow on the 14th
of November 1830.
After he finished his theological studies, he was ordained a priest
under Bishop Semaan Zouein in the monastery of Kfifan on December 25th,
1833.
He became a member of the general council three times from 1845 to
1848, 1850 to 1853. He taught in monastic schools. One of his
students was St. Charbel.
Father Nehmetallah lived a very holy life. He was a man of prayer,
totally “enraptured by God.” St. Nehmetallah died in the monastery
of Kfifan on December 14, 1858 after struggling ten days with a high
fever.
He was fifty years of age. He died holding a picture of the Virgin
Mary. His last words were: “O Virgin Mary, in your hands I submit my
soul.”
Through his intercessions many cures occurred: blind, paralyzed,
child raised from the dead, cancer and nerve system. He was
canonized on May 16th, 2004 in Rome by His Al Holiness
Pope John Paul II.
The Miracle Prayer
Lord, Jesus, I come before you, just as I am. I am sorry for my
sins, I repent of my sins, please forgive me. In your name, I
forgive all others for what they have done against me. I renounce
Satan, the evil spirits and all their works. I give you my entire
self. Lord Jesus, now and forever, I invite you into my life Jesus.
I accept you as my Lord and Savior. Heal me, change me, strengthen
me in body, soul and spirit
Amen. |
