Seventeenth Sunday of the Pentecost Season

Gospel: Luke 10:25 - 37 Readings: Romans 13:8 - 14
Today’s Gospel finds Jesus teaching the teacher. Jesus lets us know that everyone has rules to follow. Jesus teaches us the way to eternal life. God gave us commandments (rules) to follow. He tells us of the parable of the Good Samaritan. A man was robbed, beating and stripped of his clothing. Two prominent people passed by him and looked the other way, did not help him.
The Samaritan saw the beaten man and had pity on him, helped him. He also asked others to help the wounded man and he would repay them.
Which of the three men who passed by was a neighbor. Jesus asks us to do the same to our fellow man as the Samaritan did.
Lord, give us courage and patience

Ø Deepest Sympathy: Our Sympathy to the Andary Family for the loss of their Brother, Fr.Geries El-Andary who passed away in Lebanon on August 21,2008 at the age of 74. A Memorial mass was held at St. Anthony’s Parish on Sunday August 24th, 2008. He is the Brother of Emil & Victor Andary. May god Rest his soul in peace and grant consolation for his family and friends.

Ø Marriage Preparation Course: Next Marriage Preparation Course is November 6,7,8,2008 at St. Michaels Church. Cost is $75.00. You can Register at St. Anthony’s office or St. Michaels Church office . Ø Babysitter Needed: A Leamington family is looking for a middle-aged babysitter who could be available on short notice to baby-sit 2 young children between the ages of 7 and 12. If you are interested, please contact the Church at 322-2282. Thank you.

Ø Our Daily Masses: As of September 1st ,2008 our daily Masses will be at 6:00PM, except for Thursday’s, which will stay at 8:30AM

Executive Council: Next executive meeting is set for Tuesday September 2nd , 2008
General Meeting: Tuesday September 16th, 2008. All members are welcome. Our Aug. 5th meeting was well attended and productive.
Pick Nick and Baseball: A family Picnic and baseball challenge are being planned for late September. More information to follow at a later date.
Thank you to our 4th degree Knights who participated with us at the Our Lady of Lebanon festivities. Also thank you to our Brother Knights who helped with wheelchair ramp.
Parking Lot: Our Church parking Lot is in need of major and minor repairs. We are repairing the cement around parking lot drains which due to time and usage have cracked and allowed dirt and sand into drains. We also are repairing cracks in asphalt of parking Lot. Also the vent covers in the Church have rusted and some are broken, therefore they also need to be replaced. Your help and donations would be greatly appreciated for these improvements to our Church. Donations can be made through the Church office. Thank you in advance.
