Sunday of the Consecration of the Church
Gospel: John 10: 22 – 42
Readings: Hebrews 9: 11 – 15 The conversation between Jesus and the Jews evolves around two nicknames: The Messiah and the Son of God. The Jews asked Jesus if he was the Messiah. They didn’t want to know Jesus’ identity but they were trying to make him confess this identity so they could prosecute him. Jesus’ answer wasn’t clear but had a hidden confession about his identity: “I told you and you don’t believe.”
Jesus focuses in his conversation on the nickname “Son of God” using the miracles he performed (healing the paralyzed and the blind and the rising of Lazarus from the dead). Jesus used the books as reverences because he knows that the Jews accept the books as proofs.
He used the psalm that says: “I said you are gods.” He called the judges gods because the Lord’s words were inspired to them in a special way. They represent God on earth.
If the judges are called gods then Jesus could be the Son of God because he was sent by God into the world. Jesus unveiled his true identity to the Jews who were self-involved in their lack of faith. They don’t belong to Jesus’ flock.

Parish Council: Parish Council Member Christina Sassine will host an open night in the Church Hall, today, Sunday November 12th, at 7:00PM for any women interested in joining the Parish Council. If anyone wants to know what the council is about they can come and ask questions. We are targeting women because our council is in need of them.

Our deepest sympathies to the Salame Family for the loss of Antonios Salame who passed away in Lebanon at the age of 80. The Memorial Mass was held for the rest of his soul on Sunday, November 12th, 2006 at St. Anthony’s Parish. May God rest his soul in peace and grant consolation for his family and relatives.
Our heartfelt sympathies go out the Sarkis Family for the loss of Helaine Sarkis who passed away in Lebanon on Thursday, November 9th, 2006 at the age of 96. The Memorial Mass was held for the rest of her soul at St. Anthony’s Parish on Friday, November 10, 2006. May God rest her soul in peace and grant consolation for her family and relatives.
