Sunday of the Renewal of the Church
Gospel: Mathew 16: 13 – 20
Readings: Hebrews 9: 1 – 12 “Who do people say that I am? Who do you say that I am?” This is a question with double meanings, asked by Jesus who waited for the answer. Jesus beatified Peter for the answer he gave.
Jesus cared about the people’s opinion in him. But this wasn’t an obstacle for his mission. This question opens for us new and wide horizons. It is very important to know what people think of us. If it is right we have to work on making it better. “Who do YOU say that I am?” Peter’s answer came to him by an inspiration from heaven.
Jesus beatified Peter and gave him the keys to the kingdom of heaven. We, as community of faith, are invited to answer that question about Jesus’ identity. If we don’t know the answer, we know that the Church holds the keys to the kingdom of heaven. This kingdom is inside each and every one of us as said the Lord.
Let us give ourselves to the Church to open our hearts and discover the true identity of Jesus. If we declare openly Jesus’ identity, we too, like Peter, can become a rock.

Remembrance Day: On Saturday, November 11, we celebrate Remembrance Day. At 11:00AM at the Royal Canadian Legion, we will present a wreath on behalf of St. Anthony’s Parish. Please remember in your prayers the veterans who died to protect their country. Let us all participate in the Remembrance Day Celebration. Wear the Poppy as a symbol of Remembrance. Thank you.
Christmas Play: If you are interested in participating in the Christmas play, please sign up your names on the sheet provided at the Church Entrance.
Special Thank you to Jenny Nohra, the Youth Grou, St. Anthony’s Maronite K of C Council and Susie Abraham for all their help preparing the Halloween Party for the children of the Parish. All the children had a great time and lots of fun. May God bless you all and keep you safe.

Our deepest sympathies to the Naim Family for the loss of Joseph Naim who passed away in Ottawa on October 30th, 2006 at the age of 76. The Memorial Mass will be held for the rest of his soul on Sunday, November 12, 2006 at St. Peter’s Parish in Windsor. May God rest his soul in peace and grant consolation for his family and relatives.
