Ninth Sunday of the Pentecost Season

Gospel: Luke 4: 14 – 21

Readings:2 Corinthians 5: 20, 6:10

The main focus of today’s Gospel is the schedule of Jesus’ mission, which he started and competed between Galilee & Jerusalem, where he died and was raised. This program affected the Jews and the pagan people, beginning with the baptism when the Holy Spirit declared that Jesus is the Son of the Lord, to the devil’s trials which he conquered, to his mission of preaching the kingdom of God.

By Jesus’ death on the Cross and becoming a sacrifice and a sin, he triumphed over the sin and stopped the sacrifices of the Old Testament. For this reason, we should benefit from the remaining time for repentance.

The apostolic mission is one with the personality of the apostle and his service. The apostle is inspired by God. He preaches according to the flesh but a proof of God’s glory according to the eye of faith in Jesus the Crucified. Jesus taught in Nazareth and in Jerusalem before his passion, death and resurrection. He preached to his followers and his family. He endured the Cross. He was obedient and merciful.

Prayer for Peace

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, le me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled  as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love; for it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in loving that we are born to eternal life.

“Let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action.”

(1 John 3:18)
