Pray for Peace:
As our beloved country endures the burden of war once again, we
offer prayers for the intentions of all those who live there and for
the safe return of those who are there for a visit. May God bless
you all.
God our
Creator, who make the earth a peaceful garden,
Help us
restore that peace wherever it has been broken by terrorism and
injustice, especially in the Middle East.
We repent for
the times when religious language
Has fostered
hatred and division…
Bring healing
to those whose lives have been shattered by violence.
Instill a
renewed spirit of reconciliation in those who lead our people
politically and religiously. Amen.

St. Anne,
Mother of Mary, July 26
Ancient
Christian tradition records the names of Sts. Joachim and Anne as
the parents of Mary, the Mother of Jesus. They were both members of
the tribe of Judah of the house of David. According to tradition,
Joachim and Anne came to Jerusalem from Galilee. Over the centuries,
they have been honored, especially in the East, at great churches
and shrines built in memory of them. Historically and biblically,
not much is known of Joachim and Anne, except that they are the
parents of Mary and grandparents of Jesus. By their fruits we know
how people lived, Jesus taught. The Church recognizes the
grandparents of Jesus as models of family virtue and faith, which
they transmitted to their offspring.
O Good St. Anne,
Mother of
Mary, grandmother of Jesus, intercede before God for our families
and their children. May one generation hand on to another faith in
God’s promise and trust that he will do great things for those who
reverence his name.
Prayer to St.
Anne
Glorious St.
Anne, we think of you as filled with compassion for those who invoke
you and with love for those who suffer. Heavily laden with the
weight of my troubles, I cast myself at your feet and humbly beg of
you to take the present affair which I commend to you under your
special protection. (Mention your petition). Deign to commend it to
your daughter, our Blessed Lady and lay it before the throne of
Jesus, so that He may bring to a happy conclusion. Cease not to
intercede for me until my request is granted. Above all, obtain for
me the grace of one day beholding my God face to face. With you and
Mary and all the saints, may I praise and bless Him for all
eternity.
Good Saint
Anne, mother of her who is our life, our sweetness and our hope,
pray for us. Amen. |
