Year of the Eucharist Second Sunday after the Pentecost

Gospel:

1 Corinthians 2: 1 - 15

Readings:

John 14: 21- 26

Today's Gospel is a Gospel of love; the love of God based on living according to God's commandments, a love taught by the Holy Spirit and all that was said by Jesus when He visited the earth.

God is love; love is a continuous fountain of generosity that never dries up. God's love never ends and never dries up. After many temptations, the man fell and there was sin. Jesus came down from heaven to show us the extent to which God's love could reach.

We sinned, God sent His Son to save us. He gave us the Holy Spirit to console us. Love cannot be made or bought. It is an unlimited free gift from God.

Whoever loves does not hate or live by "Evil for evil". By loving, the man becomes complete in love, unlike the Pharisees and the high priests. Jesus came into the world as a light.

Our Messiah is truth and love. God does not categorize us according to our position, wealth, connections and intelligence but according to our kindness of heart and love.

Let us love God. This is the first and most important commandment. And the second one is similar. By loving our neighbor we love our Lord.

The Visitation of Mary, May 31st

Celebrated between the feasts of the Annunciation (March 25) and the birth of John the Baptist (June 24), the feast of the Visitation originated in the Church of the Middle Ages.

It recalls Mary's visit to her cousin, Elizabeth, after the angel announced that she was to be the Mother of Jesus.

Filled with the Holy Spirit, these two great women recognized the power of God at work in their midst. "Blessed are you among women," Elizabeth said, "and blessed is the fruit of your womb." Mary replied:

"My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant. From this day all generations will call me blessed: the Almighty had done great things for me, and holy is his Name.

He has mercy on those who fear him in every generation. He has shown the strength of his arm, he has scattered the proud in their conceit. He has cast down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up the lowly.

He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty. He has come to the help of his servant Israel for he has remembered his promise of mercy, the promise he made to our fathers, to Abraham and his children

forever.
