Sunday of the Paralyzed Man
Which is easier, to say Your sins are forgiven, or to say, Stand up and take your mat and walk?
(Mark 2: 9)
Gospel: Mark, 2: 1 12
Readings: 1 Timothy, 5: 24, 6: 5 In this Gospel reading, Mark talks about the enthusiasm that Jesus stirred in the people in Capernaum. They were amazed by the power he used to teach, heal the sick and drive out demons.
In this town that became Jesus and after he came to visit them, everyone knew him and they gathered to hear his teachings. Four men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man. Because of their perseverance, the reader feels that he is carrying the paralyzed with them. We face a faith that challenges even Jesus.
This faith makes them dig even harder in the ceiling. No one thought about the forgiveness of sins. All they thought about was the physical healing. Nobody heard Your sins are forgiven.
No expected a show of this kind. Jesus said to them, Why do you raise such questions in your hearts? Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, Your sins are forgiven, or to say, Stand up and take your mat and walk?
This miracle opens our hearts on the Spirits work in our hearts. If we dont accept Jesus in our lives, nothing will change in our hearts. We will continue to watch without understanding.

Psalm 23 You, Lord, are my shepherd; I shall not want. In green meadows, you give me repose; beside restful waters you lead me; you refresh my soul. You guide me in right paths for your names sake.
Even though I walk the darkest valley, I fear no evil: for you are at my side; with your rod and your staff you comfort me. You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and kindness will follow me all the days of my life; and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord my whole life long.
