Sunday of the Righteous & Just
Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.
(Matthew 25:42)
Gospel: Matthew 25, 31 46
Readings: Hebrews 12: 18 24 This Gospel Reading concludes the teachings of Jesus according to St. Matthew. Jesus confirms before he enters the Passion and Resurrection, his unity with the least of his brothers. He calls them his brothers.
He is one of them. This Gospel reading is the conclusion of Jesus answers the disciples questions about the final the Son of Man instead of meeting him which takes place on earth. Whoever wants to know the Lord has to serve others with simplicity, love and without expectations.
The Lord incarnate will recognize his own who live in love. In a time where people battle and quarrel about the truth concerning God and His divinity. The Gospel comes to return humanity to all human beings.
He confirms that human beings are the best way to know God. The judgment makes all human equals no matter to what religious denomination they belong: Did you love and serve like you are serving God? All humanity is directed to Jesus the Messiah.
By loving our brothers we love Jesus. Yes, at the end of our lives we will be judged according to the love we live. This fact was confirmed by the letter of St. Paul to the Hebrews that verified that coming to Jesus is a grace that defies the fear.

The Conversion of St. Paul, January 25The Church celebrates the conversion of St. Paul because of its extraordinary nature. Paul, who was known as Saul before his conversion, was born at Tarsus in Cilicia, to Jewish parents.
He became a Pharisee and fully embraced the Law of Moses. Paul became an avowed enemy of the infant Church and engaged in the persecution of Christians. Between the years 34 and 36, Paul was on his way to Damascus to arrest Christians and bring them back to Jerusalem.
His encounter with Christ would change his life and have a dramatic effect on Christianity. Paul Set out with the intention of bringing the prisoners he would arrest back to Jerusalem for punishment. As he was traveling along, approaching Damascus around noon, a great light from the sky suddenly flashed all about him. Saul, Saul, why do your persecute me?
He answered, Who are you, sir? He said to him, I am Jesus the Nazarene whom you are persecuting. His companions saw the light but did not hear the voice speaking to him, What is it I must do, sir? He asked, and the Lord replied, Get up and go into Damascus.
There you will be told about everything you are destined to do. But since he could not see because of the brilliance of the light, he had to be taken by hand and led into Damascus by his companions. There, he met Ananias who said to him, Saul, my brother, recover your sight.
Be baptized at once and wash away your sins as you call upon his name. Profoundly influenced by this grace of God, the converted apostle preached Christ to the nations. Today the feast of Pauls conversion ends the Church Unity Octave an annual eight-day period of prayer for Christian unity.
Inspired by Father Paul Wattson, founder of the Society of the Atonement, this observance has spread from the United States to various other lands and is celebrated in many protestant and orthodox as well as Catholic Churches.
Lord, in your mercy and by the power of your Spirit, take away the unhappy divisions that separate Christians, so that we may all be one in faith and love.
Prayer of His All Holiness Pope John Paul II for UnityLord, as you have taught us, we bow down before you in all humility, gentleness and patience, supporting each other with love and trying to keep the unity of the Spirit by the bonds of peace, that we may become one body and one spirit, according to our common calling and vocation.
With one voice, repenting of our divisions, we commit ourselves to working together for reconciliation, peace and justice, and we stand together in imploring you: help us to live as your disciples, overcoming selfishness and arrogance, hatred and violence; give us the strength to forgive.
Inspire our witness in the world, that we might foster a culture of dialogue, and be bearers of the hope which your Gospel has implanted in us.
Make us instruments of your peace, so that our homes and communities, our parishes, churches and nations might resonate more fully with the peace and have long desired to bestow upon us.
Amen.
