Year of the Eucharist Fourteenth Sunday after the Pentecost Assumption Feast

Gospel:

Luke10: 46 - 55

Readings:

Romans 12: 9-15

Mary's Song of praise symbolizes God's mercy and sympathy. The Virgin Mother said "The Mighty One" about the Lord who brings salvation.

This also was spoken by the Prophet about Jerusalem: "God is Mighty; He grants help to all selflessly, without fearing a human being or a thing."

He is the Holy One and the One above all evil. He came to earth to lift the humankind to him. His might appears in two faces: against the arrogant sitting on thrones, with the humble who know their weakness and wait for God's mercy; against the rich people who think that they could live without God after their harvest flourished and bore fruits.

This is the Lord whom Mary spoke of and sang his praises, the Lord who takes good care of those who fear Him. God does not forget the sinners. This is the Lord of mercy. He showed His mercy toward Abraham.

God completed his mercy by sending his Son to save His people. God stood beside his humble servant Mary, lifting her.

For this reason, the earth congratulated her while waiting for the heavens to congratulate her on her glorious assumption in body and soul to be with her divine Son.

The Assumption Feast, August 15

On November 1, 1950, Pope Pius XII declared the Assumption of the Blessed Mother a doctrine of faith.

The taking up of the body and soul of the Mother of God into heaven was celebrated in Jerusalem as far back as the fifth century. Gradually, various churches of East and West made it part of their calendar.

Rejoice with the Mother of God,
With angels and saints, and celebrate this great feast:
The Assumption of the Virgin Mary.

On earth she was a fruitful virgin, in heaven she
Intercedes for all; through this blessed woman, the
Spirit's gifts will flow upon us, and her words teach
gentle wisdom.

At her assent the earth blossomed; she
sought good things for the poor.

Now in heaven her care is undiminished, near her Son
She seeks the good of us all.
