Second Sunday after the Resurrection.
"Remembering our Holy Father Pope John Paul Second
Gospel: Romans 6: 1 - 11
Readings: John 21: 1- 14 Karol Joseph Wojtyla, known as John Paul II, was born in Wadowice, Poland on May 18, 1920. His mother died in 1929 and his brother died in 1932.
His father a non-commissioned army officer died in 1941. The Nazi occupation forces closed the university in 1939 and young Karol had to work in a quarry. In 1942, aware of his call to priesthood, he began courses in the clandstine seminary.
He was ordained priest on November 1st, 1976. Soon after, Cardinal Sapieha sent him to Rome where he worked under the guidance of the French Dominican. In 1948, he returned to Poland and was vicar in various parishes until 1951.
On July 4, 1958, he was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Cracow by Pope Pius XII. On January 13, 1964, he was nominated Archbishop of Cracow by Pope Paul VI, who made him a cardinal June 16, 1967. Since the start of his Pontificate on October 16, 1978, Pope John Paul II has completed 104 pastoral visits outside of Italy, including Lebanon in 1997 and Canada in 2002, and 146 within Italy. As Bishop of Rome he visited 317 of the 333 Parishes.
John Paul II has presided at 147 beatification ceremonies (482 saints) during his Pontificate. No other Pope has encountered so many individuals like John Paul II: to date, more than 17,600.00 pilgrims have participated in the General Audiences held on Wednesdays.
Such figure is without counting all other special audiences and religious ceremonies held (more than 8 million pilgrims during the Great Jubilee of the Year 2000 alone) and the millions of faithful met during pastoral visits made in Italy and throughout the world.
It must also be remembered the numerous government personalities encountered during 38 official visits and in the 738 audiences and even the 246 audiences and meetings held with Prime Ministers.
It is doubtful there has ever been a Pope who has so successfully translated his strength, determination and faith into such widespread respect and good will. His all Holiness entered eternal life on Saturday, April 2nd, 2005.

His own words .
The Eucharist:
"If in our time Christians must be distinguished above all by the 'Art of Prayer', how can we fell a renewed need to spend time in spiritual converse, in silent adoration, in heartfelt love before Christ present in the Most Holy Sacrament?
How often, dear brothers and sisters, have I experienced, and drawn from it strength, consolation and support!
The Eucharist is a priceless treasure: by not only celebrating it but also by praying before it outside of Mass we are enabled to make contact with the very wellspring of grace."
Mother Mary:
"Mary lived with her eyes fixed on Christ, treasuring his every word: 'She kept all these things, pondering them in her heart.'
The memories of Jesus, impressed upon her heart, were always with her, leading her to reflect on the various moments of her life at her son's side.
In a way those memories were to be the 'Rosary' which she recited uninterruptedly throughout her earthly life. Even now, Mary constantly sets before the faithful the 'Mysteries' of her Son, with the desire that the contemplation of those mysteries will release all their saving power.
In the recitation of the Rosary, the Christian Community enters into contact with the memories and the contemplative gaze of Mary. The Rosary, precisely because it starts with Mary's own experience, is an exquisite contemplative prayer."
Our Lord Jesus loves us;
"I leave you now with this prayer: that the Lord Jesus will reveal Himself to each one of you, that He will give you the Strength to go out and profess that you are Christian, that He will show that He alone can fill your hearts.
Accept His freedom and embrace His truth, and be messengers of the certainty that you have been truly liberated through the death and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus.
This will be the new experience, the powerful experience, that will generate, through you a more just society and a better word. God bless you and may the joy of Jesus be always with you!"
"Dear young people, let yourselves be taken over by the light of Christ, and spread that light wherever you are."
"Prayers keep us close to Jesus and his Mother."
