Year of the Eucharist
Seventh Sunday after the Pentecost |

Gospel: |

Matthew, 12: 14 -
21 |

Readings: |
|
Romans 8: 1 - 11 |

The Sundays that come between the fifth
and the tenth of Pentecost Season concentrate on the Spirit's
presence in the mission of the twelve disciples, their testimony
to the Church through the strong relationship between the feast
of two disciples Peter and Paul and the feast of the twelve apostles.
This Sunday we focus on the apostles' spirituality.
Matthew is the only evangelist to use Isaiah's
testimony to describe Jesus' mercy and meekness. The apostles'
mission is not easy: "I am sending you like sheep in the
midst of wolves", "they will persecute you, the same
way they persecuted me, do not be afraid, I conquered the world."
In today's Gospel, we see the Pharisees
increase their animosity against Jesus, who did not reply with
the same ill will, instead he chose to stay away from them and
continue his apostolic mission with his apostles according to
the Spirit of love and meekness.

Anima Christi
Soul of Christ, sanctify me. Body
of Christ, save me. Blood of Christ, inebriate me. Water from
the side of Christ, wash me. Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O good Jesus, hear me.
Within thy wounds hide me.
Suffer me not to be separated from thee.
From the malignant enemy, defend me. In the hour of my death,
call me.
And bid me come to thee.
That with thy saints I may praise thee.
Forever and ever. Amen.
