Sunday of the Visitation to Elizabeth
"Blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her by the Lord." (Luke 1:43)
Gospel: Luke, 1: 39- 45
Readings: Ephesians 1: 1 - 14 During the season of announcements, Mary's visit comes as continuity to the announcement of the angel to her and a confirmation for Elizabeth on her son's role.
The baby started moving in his mother's womb by the power of the Holy Spirit to let his mother unveils Mary and her baby's secret. The promises of the Old covenant won't belong only to the people of Israel but to all those who will accept the announcement of Jesus. The meeting between Mary and Elizabeth is different from any other meeting.
It is a meeting of glory and thanksgiving to God who gave the barren one the grace of carrying the announcer of the New Covenant and to the Virgin to become the Mother of the founder of the New Testament. Elizabeth did not choose the words to greet Mary just to be gracious or hospitable. It is a true faithful cry of a person surprised by the divine presence, "Blessed is the fruit of your womb." Elizabeth felt what was only felt by Mary.
She declared her faith in the incarnation of the word even before He was born. She saw in Mary not only a relative but the Mother of the Lord, "The Mother of my Lord comes to me."
She congratulated Mary on her belief in the announcement she just accepted. By doing so, Elizabeth expressed her joy and the joy of her son who leaped in her womb when she heard Mary's greeting.

St. Andrew, First Century Apostle St. Andrew came from Bethsaida, a town in Galilee on the Lake of Genesareth. He became a disciple of St. John the Baptist, who sent him to see Jesus. After visiting the Lord, Andrew called his brother, Simon Peter, to come and meet the Messiah.
Later, as Jesus was walking along the Sea of Galilee, he saw Peter and Andrew casting their nets into the sea. Jesus said, "Follow me and I will make you fishers of men."
Andrew accompanied Jesus throughout his public ministry, and his name appears in the story of the feeding of five thousand in the desert. After the death of Christ, he labored as a missionary in Scythia, Greece and Turkey and established the Church at Constantinople.
He was crucified on an x-shaped cross at Patras, Acaia. St. Andrew is the Patron Saint of Russia and Scotland.
I bow before the Cross made precious by Christ, my Master. I embrace it as his disciple.
