Sunday of the Birth of John the Baptist

“What then will this child become? For, indeed, the hand of the Lord was with him.”

(Luke 1:66)

Gospel:

Luke, 1: 57– 66

Readings:

Galatians 4:21, 5:1

With the birth of John the Baptist, the first of the announcements was completed. The announcement to Zechariah arranged for the announcement to Mary, the birth of John prepared for the birth of Jesus as a completion of the big announcement.

The birth of John is one of the occurrences of the birth of Jesus. The joy that is spread today on the mountain of Judea will soon broaden to all humanity the day of the birth of Jesus.

The Gospel focuses on the triumph of the matter of God over family traditions. The faithful are invited to live the freedom given to them through the birth of Isaac from Sarah the free.

They are born from the promise given by Jesus Christ. For that reason, we need to strengthen and make victorious God’s will over all traditions that face us.

On the eighth day, the boy enters the circle of the Covenant and is given the name appropriate to the family tradition. With John the customs came to a halt. He will be called according to what was said to Zechariah by the angel.

As soon as Zechariah wrote down the name John, he spoke immediately. By calling his son John, Zechariah declared that God’s right in him. He, as a father, Zechariah declared God’s right in him. He, as a father, gave up that right to God.

He learned how to obey God during those nine months of silence and meditation her son who leaped in her womb when she heard Mary's greeting.

The Immaculate Conception of Mary, December 8

The Solemn feast of Mary’s Immaculate Conception, celebrated nine months before the feast of her birth, September 8, recalls the Christian belief that Mary was preserved free from all stain of original sin from the moment of her conception by her mother, Ann.

Because of her unique role as the mother of Jesus Christ, God endowed her with special graces and gifts. Like a new Eve, she brought new life to the world through her Divine Son.

The feast is also a reminder that the whole Church shares in Mary’s privileges in some way. For this reason the feast day prayer asks God to “trace in our actions the lines of her love, in our hearts her readiness of faith.”

The bishops of the United States, with firm belief in Mary’s intercession, confided their new nation to her care under the title of her Immaculate Conception.
