Triumph of the Holy Cross Gospel: John 12: 20 - 43
Readings: 1 Corinthians 1: 18 - 25
When Jesus' soul was distressed, he wondered about what he might ask: "Father, save me from this hour" or "Father, glorify your name". The Father's voice came focusing on past and future exaltation. Worshiping God's name is to illustrate its meaning to the world. His name, Father, means the source of all life. The Father gives life instead of death given by the world.
The hour of death becomes the hour of a new life. When everyone asked about the source of the voice and its goal, Jesus explained that the voice was not meant for him but for those who heard him. Jesus' Cross divides the world in two parts: the first which accepts his salvation and the second which refuses him. The Christian doesn't rejoice in pain but doesn't live it complaining.
There is a thin line between the two worlds. Let us ask Jesus whose Cross triumphed over death, to help us understand how to balance between the two worlds.

Triumph of the Holy Cross
September 14St. Paul the Apostle spoke of the power of Christ's Cross according to tradition, the empress Helena discovered the Lord's Cross in Jerusalem on September 14, 320.
Five years later, a great Church was built on Mount Calvary by Emperor Constantine to shelter the holy relic. Parts of the wood of the Cross were sent to the major cities of the Christendom, where they were shown to the faithful on this special feast.
We worship you, O Christ,
And we praise you, because by your Cross
You have redeemed the world.
By this holy tree,
You gave your people victory, and put aside the tree of our defeat.Top of Page
