Gospel: John 16: 7 - 11
Readings: 1 Corinthians 2: 12 - 16
Jesus gave his commandments to
the disciples before sending them into the world. He owns the
vineyard. He is the Lord, the Teacher, and the Example. Jesus
lived His commandments with his apostles before he taught them.
He left them with great teachings. His new commandment which
completes all others, is the one of the Crucified, the one of
the Lamb which was taken to be slaughtered and he did not say
a word. Jesus unveils for us the Lord's face: God is love.
As the Father loves me so I love
you. Love one another as I love you. That is how the world knows
that you are my disciples. The commandment that completes all
others is one of LOVE, because when we love we don't hold a grudge,
we keep our promises, we are never jealous, we don't steal, we
never despise anyone. When we love we die for those we love.
This is the essence of the law of all prophets; this is the provision
that the Lord gives to his disciples: "Go, love as I love
you." Do not be afraid because love makes fear disappear.
The one who is in fear is not complete in his love.
We are unable to love as Jesus
loves because of our weak nature. We are unable to accept the
logic of love because it disagrees with our nature. The Spirit
will create us anew every time we ask him to. He teaches us how
to learn from God's love to love him and all mankind. The Spirit
makes us obedient like true disciples of the Lord. He says to
him: "Speak Lord, I am listening."
