Sunday of the Faithful Departed Readings: 1 Thessalonians 5: 1-11
Gospel: Luke, 16: 19-31 (English & Lebanese):
The Church remembers today and all this week all the faithful departed, before Lent. We offer prayers for the souls that are still suffering and waiting for the Kingdom. It is our duty to hep them with prayers and sacrifices for their salvation so they could one day intercede for us before God.
The souls in purgatory cannot save themselves, but we can through prayers and Masses. Jesus was poor the day he was born. He drew for us the road to meet God. The rich man represents here the man who was seduced by the love of money and what follows in sins. That man went in a place very far away from God. He went down in the depths of hell.
Lazarus, the poor man, who was patient and suffered from hunger and misery, carried his cross with satisfaction following Jesus' footsteps. He arrived on angels wings to the kingdom, to sit beside Abraham. Heaven's rules are very different from the earth's rules. In heaven, all masks fall down and the naked truth is revealed. Everyone will get what he deserves according to his deeds on earth. The rich man and Lazarus are the best example on that matter.

Leamington Ministerial Association invites all the Christians to pray for each other. This week we pray for St. Michael's Parish You're invited to the ordination of the Deacon Pierre Azzi to the priesthood on Sunday, March 2nd, 2003 at 12:00PM at St. Maron's Cathedral, 1000 Gouin St., Montreal. Everyone is invited to a reception afterwards at the Cathedral's Hall. All are welcome.
Easter Play: All children interested in participating in the Easter Play, please register your names on the sheet provided at the Church entrance. Mrs. Barbara Gaspard will be responsible for the play.
Trip to Wheels Inn: all the altar servers and their friends will enjoy a fun day at the Wheels Inn in Chatham during March Break. If interested, please register your names on the sheet provided at the Church entrance. Parents are asked to sign a parental consent in order for their children to participate in this event.
