A message from the Ontario
Conference of Catholic Bishops to the Catholic Faithful of Ontario:
Marriage
"The Catholic Bishops of
Canada have made it clear to the Federal Government that we are
firmly committed to the maintenance of the common law definition
of marriage as 'the voluntary and lawful union of one man and
one woman to the exclusion of all others' and to the sacramental
nature of that union.
From recent announcements, it
would appear that the Federal Government is ready to abandon
that concept of marriage in favor of some other. The bishops
of Ontario are opposed to this federal initiative. In the coming
months we will be asking you to join us in defending marriage
as it has existed for millennia.
Marriage and the family are fundamental
institutions which contribute to the common good in terms of
the formation of children, loyalty, faithfulness and responsibility
in our society. Marriage, as we have known it, cannot be allowed
to slip quietly away."

Bishops.
- Please sign the petition
to the House of Common available at the Church entrance.
- Prayer to Jesus for vocations
O Jesus, Good Shepherd, bless
our parishes with numerous priests, deacons, men and women religious,
consecrated laity and missionaries, according to the needs of
the entire world which you love and wish to save.
We especially entrust our community
to you; grant us the spirit of the first Christians, so that
we may be a cenacle of prayer, in loving acceptance of the Holy
Spirit and his gifts.
Look with love on so many young
people and call them to follow you. Help them to understand that
in you alone can they attain complete fulfillment.
To this end we call on the powerful
intercession of Mary, mother and model of all vocations. Amen.
