First Sunday after Resurrection

Readings: 2 Corinthians , 5: 11 - 21

Gospel: John, 20: 26-31 (English & Lebanese):

This Sunday, the First after Resurrection, Thomas saw, believed and proclaimed: "My Lord and my God!" This Sunday in particular, St. Paul proclaimed in his second letter to the Corinthians: "If anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation; everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new! All this from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ." We also declare that Jesus Christ is our Lord and our God.

He is the Son of the Father, and the giver of eternal life. He is alive in each one of us in every time and every age. He is the king of peace in our hearts and our souls. Thomas refused to believe the Lord's Resurrection coming from the other disciples. He wanted to touch in order to believe. For this reason, Jesus came when the doors were closed; he saluted his disciples saying to Thomas: "Put your finger here and see my hands.

Reach out your hand and put it in my side. Do not doubt but believe." Thomas needed to hear those words from Jesus who said to him: "Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe." Jesus' words are a promise for us that we will be granted happiness and beatitude even if we did not see Jesus with the naked eye, because the Church testified to the world that Jesus is alive in each one of us.
