Sunday of the Blind Man

Readings: 2 Corinthians, 10: 1 - 7

Gospel: Mark,10: 46-52 (English & Lebanese)

Jesus is guidance to our hearts and light to the world and the life; whoever follows him doesn't walk in darkness. He came to the world to shed light on us and free us by the power of his Spirit. He came to return the value of our humanity, because we don't live by bread alone but by every word that comes out of the mouth of God, by every word of truth based on Jesus Christ.

The words spoken by the blind man on the side of the road: "Son of David, have mercy on me" is the scream of the Church in every time and place. Before entering with Jesus to Jerusalem, holding the olive branches, the Church invites us to meet the Cross in our lives of faith and preaching so we can enter with him into the passion, death and resurrection. St. Paul teaches us to ask for our salvation and to work according to our Christian mission with courage, insistence and faith similar to that of the blind man.

Our weapon is the power of God which demolishes the strong fortresses and all obstacles. We are invited as we approach Easter, to walk behind Jesus taking our strength from his, to bear witness to the Christian hope and be aware of our responsibility as a community in the mission of life. The voice of the Lord invites us like the blind to open our hearts so Jesus could take away the darkness.

Amen.
