Sixth Sunday After the Holy Cross Readings: Galatians 6:1-10
Gospel: Matthew, 25:14-30 (English & Lebanese):
We notice in most of the Liturgical prayers, especially those used in remembrance of the Righteous and Just, a special attention is drawn to the talents, which we hear today in the Gospel. What is the true meaning of the talents in the life of the faithful community. It means many things. The Church considers the priests to be the trustful keeper of the talents that symbolize the word of the priest and his preaching.
St. John considers the talents as the Holy Sacraments, the wisdom, the good example, the faithfulness, meekness, good reputation, truth, and justice. We, as faithful, are always on our guards to do commerce with our talents. We ask the Lord to give us true faith and to walk on the path of the Righteous and Just. St. Anthony also encouraged his disciples to persevere to the end saying: "Love Jesus with all your hearts, do not let greediness conquer you, stay away from false glory, pray ceaselessly and without boredom, sing the psalms, and always meditate on the principles of the Gospel and its teachings to avoid provocation of your Master's anger like the wicked slave.
