SIXTH SUNDAY AFTER EASTER
Readings: Colossians 2:6-15

Gospel: John 20:19-25 (English & Lebanese):

This is the last Sunday after the Resurrection; Jesus appeared to his disciples breathing on them his Spirit before Pentecost, saying: "As the Father has sent me, so I send you." St. Paul, in his letter to the Colossians, also encouraged the people to continue to live in Christ rooted and built up in him. The peace that Jesus gives today by sending his disciples to proclaim the Good News, prepares the souls to greet him.

He forgives and renews because he is the joy and hope that console and strengthen our heart that wait to hear the voice of the Son of God. The disciples' mission is an extension of the Father sending him, his only begotten Son, our light and guide.

The Holy Spirit who is a breath of Jesus' Spirit is the power that will help the Church conquer the evil. This Spirit will lead us to the truth and pray in each one of us. Jesus, the Risen Lord gives his disciples the authority to forgive sins: "If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, the are retained." By doing so, the Lord recreates us and confirms our belonging to His fatherly kingdom.

Let us go back to the womb of the Mother Church, the sign of the living God's presence in us. After nearly two thousands years, Jesus still meet us renewing his gift of peace, breathing his Spirit on us, giving his Church the power to forgive sins and his body and blood as nourishment. He sends us to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world.

Prayer to the Mother of All Mothers

O Mary, You are blessed,
For the mysteries of the prophets are fulfilled in you.
You were in the burning bush and in the cloud that
Moses saw; you were in the ladder rising up to heaven
That Ezekiel saw; you were in the Ark of the Covenant
That David saw. At your birth these mysteries are fulfilled
Glory to the Father, who sent his only Son through you.
