FIFTH SUNDAY AFTER EASTER
Readings: Romans 10:1-12

Gospel: Luke 24:36-45 (English & Lebanese):

We see Jesus today, in the midst of his apostles and disciples greeting them with his peace, asking them not to fear. Jesus is present every time all the disciples are together celebrating the memory of his passion, death, and resurrection. That is the strength of the Church's faith. This strength will enable the Church to face the persecutions and difficulties.

Do we go the Church with joy to celebrate the Eucharist? Do we receive the good news and spread it in our society? Jesus appeared after his resurrection not in flesh and blood but in the beatified nature. He kept the marks from the nails in his hands and feet to indicate that he is not a ghost or a spirit but it is himself present among them. We are also invited to read our passion on the light of our faith in the one resurrected from the dead. This resurrection is our salvation and life.

The sinner can't make himself look innocent not even by using the law. Salvation comes only from God. He is the one to save mankind. We are asked to believe and all will follow. Let us remember today, all those who consecrated themselves to serve the mission. Let us answer Jesus saying: "We remember your death o Lord and we believe in your resurrection, and we wait for your second coming."

First Communion, May 5, 2002

First Reading: 1 Corinthians, 11:23-26 (Lebanese)

Gospel: Mark, 12:13-16 (English & Lebanese)

First Communion completes the process of the Christian initiation. It continues within us the victory of Christ over sin, and brings us into greater unity with God, we share in the Eucharist as our right and duty.

Communion of the Body and Blood of Christ of our Lord under the appearances of bread and wine completes our participation in the Eucharist sacrifice. The part, in order that we may share fully in its graces.

Normal Rule: The general Eucharistic fast is ONE HOUR from food and beverages. Water does not break the fast.

For the sick or dying: No Eucharistic fast is necessary.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to all the volunteers who donated their time and effort so generously to make this day a very memorable and special one: Mrs. Jihane Mouawad, Mrs. Ghada Kantati and Mr. Nicholas El-Kada who helped the children during practice and Mrs. Diana Jraige and Mrs. Rima Nohra for the paper work. Thank you all and may God bless you.
