PALM SUNDAY
Readings: Philippians 1:1-11

Gospel: John, 12: 12-22 (English & Lebanese):

Let us glorify the Cross of Triumph! Let us taste in advance the glory of Jesus' resurrection on this Sunday of Palms! Let us all shout: "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, the King of Israel!" He is the only King that is worthy to be greeted in our lives and in our hearts.

He is the Lord who enters our hearts victorious over all difficulties, erasing all obstacles, giving his salvation to all nations, declaring himself the King of mercy and humbleness. Jesus' life gave the disciples and understanding of the books and a completion of the Old Covenant's waiting. This gift allowed the people of God to leave Egypt and slavery and set all nations free. Jesus' salvation today covers all nations.

The Gospel preaching started with the apostles and extended within the nations themselves. God's mercy never changes. Jesus opened this saving mission to all people on a day like this. He allowed us to enter directly into the Sacrament of his Passion, death, and Resurrection. Let us open our eyes and our hearts to Jesus who is our salvation and our light.

The Annunciation
March 25

One of the "Christian Feasts" celebrate outside of the Christmas Season, the feast of the Annunciation recalls the coming of the Angel Gabriel to Mary at Nazareth to announce that she was to be the mother of Jesus. St. Luke records the historic moment: "Do not fear Mary. You have found a favor with God.

You shall conceive and bear a son and give the name Jesus. Great will be his dignity and he will be called the Son of the Most High. Mary said: "I am the maid servant of the Lord. Let it be done to me as you say." With that the angel left her. (Luke 1, 28-23) The feast of the Annunciation is an ancient feast of the Church. March 25, the time of the spring equinox, was seen as a significant day by the early Christians who regarded it as the day the world was created, the day of Christ's conception in Mary's womb, and the day of his death on the Cross.

God our Father,
Your Word became man and was born of the Virgin Mary.

Indulgence Prayer before a Crucifix
Look down upon me, good and gentle Jesus,
While before your face, I humbly kneel, and
With a burning soul pray and beseech you to
Fix deep in my heart lively sentiments of faith,
Hope and charity, true contrition for my sins,
And a firm purpose of amendment, while I
Contemplate with great love and tender pity
Your five wounds, pondering over them within
Me, calling to mind the words which David your
Prophet said of you, my good Jesus: "They have
Pierced my hands and my feet; they have numbered all my bones.
