SIXTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST Readings: 2 Corinthians 3:1-6
Gospel: Matthew 10:1-7 (English & Lebanese):
The Pentecost, the Apostles, and the Church are deeds of the Spirit and from his transfigurations and miracles. We all know that the Church is born from the side of Jesus. On the day of Pentecost the Church was revealed and ever since then, the apostles left their fearful upper room to transform the world into a body for the Son and a secret kingdom for the Father and a holy temple for the Spirit. We always ask: "Where did they come from? What is the secret of their mission? The list of the twelve apostles, which we see in Matthew's Gospel, comes from the calling about the Kingdom of God.
Our adventures with Jesus are similar to that of the first apostles; it starts always with a special invitation. He knows us before he forms us into the womb. He recognizes each one of us. This invitation is gratuity because we did not initiate it. God initiated it. Our Lord invites us to live from his life like a branch of the vine. He sends us to truly share in his project of salvation called "Kingdom" in today's Gospel. All mankind are invited to answer God's love and follow the example of the Son who shares with us his love and peace.
