- Readings: Hebrews, 12:18-24
-
- Gospel: Matthew, 25: 31-46 (English & Lebanese):
In today's letter to the Hebrews, St. Paul talked to the people
about God's appearance in the Old Testament using two factors:
Fear and Tremor; in the New Testament, God appeared in human
body through his Son Jesus Christ, God of love. He attracted
to his spiritual kingdom all the righteous and just saints. For
this reason today's Gospel revealed what will happen at the hour
of the final judgment, when each person will be judged according
to his deeds; good ones and bad.
-
- Jesus is the Son of Man and the Good Shepherd, who knows
his flock and cares for it. He is the one who will judge all
the nations with no difference, the living and the dead, separating
the wheat from the tare, working on letting those on his right
share in his glory and authority over the universe.
-
- He will throw those on his left to eternal punishment. He
is Jesus, the fair judge who invites us now to be just in our
deeds and opinions so we could know God and serve him through
serving and loving the poor, the shut-ins, and those in pain
by being honest in our society living in justice and peace. We
ask the Lord Jesus to make our conscience clear so we could come
before him in righteousness with the righteous and just.
