- Readings: 1Timothy, 4:6-16
-
- Gospel: Luke, 12: 42-48 (English & Lebanese):
At the end of the Epiphany Season, the Church celebrates the
Memory of those who have the most important influence on us,
by transferring to us the faith and Christian education. Those
bishops and priests whom God addressed when talking about the
faithful servant, responsible for his house; St. Paul explains
to the priests: "Set the believers an example in speech
and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity; so they could learn
and be enlightened and be honest." The priest should also
know that "From whom much has been given, much will be required."
-
- The most important virtue in the servant of the kingdom is
to avoid accumulating the earth's good for himself, like the
rich man who used his master's trust in him to give a stone to
someone asking for bread, a serpent for that asking for a fish
and a scorpion instead of an egg. St. Paul reminds us that the
wise altar server knows that the best service consists on preaching
the Word of God, feeding his bread to hungry souls and returning
the lost sheep safely to the stable.
-
- His service is a grace not a merit; for these intentions
we pray today with all the parishioners for the eternal rest
of departed priests who served the Holy Altar without forgetting
those alive who serve the altar specially the current pastor
so he could live like the apostles faithfully, with sacrifice
and generosity. We also pray that God will always give us in
St. Anthony's Parish holy priests. Amen.

The Meaning of Catholic Education in the 21st Century. In the
face of a changing society, how can Catholic Schools remain true
to their mission while welcoming students and educators of diverse
ethnic religious backgrounds? Just what is that mission? To love
one another is the essence of the Christian Mission. Catholic
schools are called to put Christ's "New Commandment"
into practice. All welcome. Free admission.
Congratulations to Mr. Nehmetallah & Mrs. Therese Nehmetallah

Prayer for the Unity
- Gracious God,
You are ever faithfully and you are ever true,
You direct our paths and you guide our ways.
As you call us forth to be one,
We ask you to open up our minds and our hearts,
To welcome with joy all that you have in store.
May we experience deeper clarity
Of the mission you have for us one heart and one soul.
