- FIRST SUNDAY AFTER EPIPHANY
|
- Readings: Galatians, 1:11-17
-
- Gospel: John, 1: 29-42 (English & Lebanese):
This Sunday is a confirmation that "We are all children
of God in Jesus" John the Baptist had a preparatory role,
which differs between the Baptism of water and the Baptism of
water and Spirit. He witnessed and said: "I myself have
seen and have testified that this is the Son of God."
-
- John unveils to us the secret identity of Jesus, the Son
of the Lord, the One who takes away the sin of the world; Jesus
is a friend, God's Son, prince of peace, the faithful servant
and the true witness; John was an echo to the eternal word of
God.
- All those who came before the Son were an image of Him. The
crucified Messiah took away our pain and he was taken like a
lamb to be sacrificed so we could have the true light where the
sun of salvation never sets. This operation of Baptism happened
between two covenants, which gave the mission to Jesus' disciples.
-
- Do we allow people to see God's Spirit in us? When we face
life's heartaches do we lose hope or do we know how to give in
to Jesus' inspiration and hope. Are we really witnesses, guides,
and lights in the society where we live? We should plant and
water, and God will make the harvest grow and be plentiful.

Prayer
Strengthen and prepare my soul, good Jesus, and help me do something
for you.
For no one could possibly receive as much as I have and give
nothing in return.
Whatever it takes, Lord, may I not come before you with empty
hands, since we are rewarded according to our deeds.
Here is my life, my honor, my will; I give all to you. Do with
me what you will. I can do little, but approaching you I can
do all things, if you do not leave me.
-
Amen.
St. Therese of Avila.
