- Readings: 2 Corinthians, 7:4-11
-
- Gospel: Luke, 8: 40-48 (English & Lebanese):
In today's Gospel there is an
invitation to pray and trust God; he is our only hope for healing.
We saw a similar spectacle in Lebanon when we were visited by
the late Father Emilio Tardiff and we saw lots of healings at
his hand with the Spirit's help.
-
- St. Paul, today is talking to the Corinthians about the
importance of repentance and the joy of coming back to the Father
after being reprimanded until sadness and tears take us to meet
Jesus. Every sickness in our body is fatal to our lives; it is
a hemorrhage of our bodies and souls. It takes us toward the
bad habits, like drinking, gambling, cursing, gossiping, setting
bad examples, arrogance
Let us look up to God with humbleness,
patience, and faith. Let us ask him to let us give in to his
holy will so our sadness won't be of this world.
-
- Christian life is a constant war againt evil forces. Let
repent so we could inherit peace when we hear Jesus' voice saying
to the hemorrhaging woman: "Your faith has saved you. Go
in peace."

- Chair of St. Peter
February 25
-
- In ancient Rome, families remembered their dead relatives
and friends at a feast during the latter part of February in
which an empty chair represented their deceased. Since the early
Christians did not know the date of St. Peter's death, they remembered
him with a feast around his empty chair of St. Peter as a symbol
of his authority as the first bishop of both Rome and Antioch.
It was to Peter that Jesus said, "I have prayed for you,
Peter, that your faith may not fail; and when you have turned
to me, you must strengthen the faith of your brothers and sisters."
Father, you have built your church on Peter's confession of faith.
May nothing weaken your gift of faith and love.
