SUNDAY OF THE WEDDING AT CANA
Readings: Romans, 14:13-23

Gospel: John, 2: 1-12 (English & Lebanese)

This Sunday, we stand before the Sacrament of all Sacraments. The Holy Spirit came upon the water; it became wine, just like during the Mass: Wine to Blood, Bread to the Body of the Lord. We are called to be transformed and become children of the Kingdom, which is not about food or drink, it is about righteousness, peace, joy in the Holy Spirit. It is about being far away from division, handling our lives in a good manner, share in brotherhood.

We ought be aware that we are one body in Jesus Christ. Jesus blessed the water transforming it to wine; here in the Holy Supper, Jesus' blessing was bestowed upon love and marriage. Jesus is our guarantee for our resurrection; at the end we will be transformed to new persons; we will be born of water and spirit. Jesus' miracle is a gradual inspiration to change our lives during the Lent Season by prayers and sacrifices. We are called to deepen our knowledge in Christ so we could reach to him.

Lent is the wedding or all faithful and abstinence is his delicious table. The Lent Season is steadfast and generosity. During this holy season we have to live in harmony, no quarrels, no hatred so Lent won't be taken away from us. We could have a holy Lent Season by following these four steps: 1st, ignoring all bad habits, 2nd, being humble in our lives, 3rd, participate in the Spiritual Retreats, 4th, do steadfast work and help those less fortunate.

Our Lady of Lourdes
February 11

The Virgin Mary appeared to Bernadette Soubirous from a cave near Lourdes, France in 1858. From February 11 to July 16, the young peasant Bernadette saw "the lady dressed in white" about eighteen times. Mary told her to pray for sinners and to have a Church built on that spot. When Bernadette asked her who she was, she replied, "I am the Immaculate Conception." Today the great Shrine of Lourdes is a sacred place where pilgrims gather from the entire world for prayer, healing, and a renewal of faith.

God of mercy, may the prayers of Mary help us to rise above our human weakness.

How did Saint Valentine's Day begin?

Valentine was a priest in Rome a long time ago. He was a very good priest and many people liked him. Claudius, the Roman Emperor, did not want young men to get married without his permission. Young people wanted to get married. Valentine married them in Secret.

When Claudius found out, he put him into prison. He killed him on February 14. Two hundred years later, the Church made February 14 a special day to remember Saint Valentine who became the patron Saint of lovers. A different story is that February 14 is the day that birds choose their mates, so people also choose the ones they love.

Prayer to keep a true Lent

Is this a fast to keep the larder lean and clean from fat or veal and sheep? Is it to quit the dish of flesh, yet still to fill the platter high with fish? Is it to fast an hour or ragged to go, or show a down-cast look and sour? No: this is a fast to dole thy sheaf of wheat and meat unto the hungry soul. It is to fast from strife and old debate, and hate; to circumcise thy life. To show a heart grief-Lent; to starve thy sin, not bin; and that is to keep thy Lent.
