- Readings: 1 Thessalonians, 5:1-11
-
- Gospel: Luke, 16: 19-31 (English & Lebanese):
At the end of this period of remembrance, we remember all the
Faithful departed during this week. St. Paul unveils to us in
his letter to the Thessalonians, the secret of salvation. He
insists on being alert and faithful. He reminds us of God's words
and the secret of his mission and preaching saying: "You
are not in darkness, for that day to surprise you like a thief."
-
- Being rich is not an obstacle to enter the kingdom, being
poor is not a symbol of Christians, but being attached to the
richness to the point where it dominates our hearts instead of
a brother in humanity and God; that is the problem. Death is
the fruit of the sin and its consequences "Everyone was
condemned to die." The difference is vast between one who
dies prepared with the Reconciliation and Communion and one who
dies suddenly in the state of mortal sin.
-
- The Church prays today so God, the just and fair judge,
would have mercy on all its children. The Church Tradition puts
before our eyes the scene of Lazarus and the rich man so the
light will be our guide on the way, and the nourishment t our
souls and the warning for those who are not ready. Let us be
ready to win the battle of life and death. Let us pray for those
who were gone before us so the Cross of Jesus be their rod and
staff.
- Amen.

- Prayer of ST. Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is discord, unity;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is error, truth;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is sadness, joy; where there is darkness, light.
Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled
as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved
as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning
that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to
eternal life.
-
- Amen.
