FOURTH SUNDAY AFTER EASTER
Readings: Ephesians 2:1-10

Gospel: Mark, 16: 15: -18 (English & Lebanese):

In this Sunday's Reading, we hear St. Paul talking to us about the salvation given to us by Jesus Christ. This salvation is the Lord's grace. St. Mark the Evangelist tells us how the Church carried the good news from Jesus Christ. Jesus gave the Church the universal nature, which allows us to conquer the sin by the Eucharist given by Jesus.

By meeting his disciples, Jesus took away their doubt; they believed and went to preach about his resurrection. We, as new faithful, have the responsibility of bringing the good news to all creations. We have to believe the testimony of Mary, the apostles and the disciples by receiving the Sacrament of Baptism, sharing in the passion of the Lord so we could be, as faithful people, a temple of the Spirit. The Church is God's people.

The Church is the Parish where Jesus works. The Church is the fertile mother who bears new children on the image of Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit. The Church is the reason of salvation and joy of the whole world. O Jesus, the risen Lord, you are with us everywhere; we believe that the good will triumph over the evil, the resurrection over death. We say no to the devil and yes to you, the Son of God and Son of man.

Amen.

St. Joseph the worker
May 1

On May 1, 1955 Pope Pius XII addressed the Catholic Association of Italian Workers and declared that this day would be known as the feast day of St. Joseph the Worker. In the Communist bloc, May first is celebrated as May Day, which glorifies the relationship between the worker and the socialist state. It is obvious that the Church was very concerned with this, and wanted to prove to its faithful that it was equally concerned about the plight of the working man and woman. Joseph, a carpenter, taught his trade to son, Jesus, and provided for his family. It is especially important to remember this human element when contemplating the lives of both St. Joseph and the Holy Family.
Lord, God, maker of al things,

You give us skill of mind and body to labor and serve in this world.
May we follow the way of St. Joseph who worked with Christ at his side,
And may all we do be a sign of your greatness and power.
