- Readings: Colossians 3:1-17
-
- Gospel: John, 21: 15: -19 (English &
Lebanese):
The Resurrection is not just a historic incident. It is about
faith. By the resurrection, the faithful community wears the
virtues such as: modesty, mercy, patience, and most importantly
stay as far away as possible from the earthly desires that lead
to sin.
-
- We take off the old person in ourselves, dressing in the
Sacrament of Baptism that allows us to share in the Passion and
Resurrection of the Lord. To be able to continue the mission
of Jesus Christ, we have to be slaves to the divine unlimited
love, which is the measure of success. Giving is an indication
of love.
-
- Jesus loved his Father; he also loved us to the point of
sacrificing himself on the Cross for us. Simon believed in the
Resurrection of Jesus. He learned that being a disciple for him
is deeper than words. It goes beyond the point of saying it to
the point of experiencing it: Passion and Resurrection.
-
- We won't go into depression; instead we have to take responsibility
in spreading the good news to all sacrificing ourselves for the
truth. Let the light of resurrection shines into our lives so
we know the true meaning of love.

- St. George (Fourth Century, Martyr)
April 23rd
Historically, very little is known of St. George's life. According
to tradition, he was a Christian soldier who suffered martyrdom
about the year 303 in Palestine, sometime before the reign of
the Emperor's Constantine. A legend beginning in the twelfth
century and later popularized in the thirteenth century by a
book called the Golden Legend tells of George as a Christian
soldier born in Cappadocia. In Sylene, Libya, he rescued the
king's daughter from a dragon and in turn killed it. As a result,
thousands of people were baptized and led to God. Devotion to
George spread to the West during the Crusades when he was invoked
for protection by King Richard I of England and his army. St.
George is the patron saint of England as well as Portugal, Germany,
Aragon, Genoa and Venice.
- Lord,
We praise your power that enabled your saints to be strong in
life and in face of death. Give us help too in our weakness.
