Sunday of the Announcement to Mary

Readings: Galatians, 3:15-22,

Gospel: Luke, 1:26-38 (English & Lebanese):

Jerusalem fell into the hands of Babylon people. All of them went to exile. This was the result of being rebellious to God who will rebuild his holy city that will resemble a woman who will bear many children. "Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word." This was what Mary said to the angel who announced to her the good news.

During this time of announcements, we look toward Mary to be an example for us in accepting her announcement. Her acceptance to be with her according to the angel's words, is an example of many situations we go through: "Yes" for consecration, "Yes" for marriage, "Yes" for commitment to a cause, "Yes" to service… These acceptances in our lives are echoes to what Mary and Jesus said, "Let it be your will, Lord, not mine". During this week of the announcement to Mary, we listen to St. Paul in the letter to the Galatians, "What was promised through faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe."

St. Luke invites us to follow the path of the Lord for nothing is possible with God. We, as faithful, are invited, in the midst of our problems and anxieties, to persevere in God's service and to take His word as the light of our life.

St. Andrew, Apostle, (First Century)
November 30
St. Andrew came from Bethsaida, a town in Galilee on the Lake of Genesareth. He became a disciple of St. John the Baptist, who sent him to see Jesus. After visiting the Lord, Andrew called his brother, Simon Peter, to come and meet the Messiah. Later, as Jesus was walking along the Sea of Galilee, he saw Peter and Andrew casting their nets into the sea. Jesus said, "Follow me and I will make you fishers of men." Andrew accompanied Jesus throughout his public ministry, and his name appears in the story of the feeding of the five thousand in the desert. After the death of Christ, he labored as a missionary in Scythia, Greece, and Turkey and established the Church at Constantinople. He was crucified on an X-shaped cross at Patras. Acacia. St. Andrew is the Patron saint of Russian and Scotland.
I bow before the Cross made precious by Christ, my Master, I embrace it as his disciple.

"ST. Andrew"
Annunciation Prayer

Salvation to all that will is nigh;
That all, which always is all everywhere,
Which cannot die, yet cannot choose but die,
So, Faithful Virgin, yields himself to lie
In prison, in thy womb, and through he there
Can take no sin, nor thou give, yet he'll wear
Taken from thence, flesh, which death's force may try.
Ere by the spheres time was created, thou
Wast in his mind, who is thy Son and Brother;
Whom you conceived; yea, thou art now
Thy Maker's maker, and thy Father's mother;
Thou hast light in dark, and shut'st in little room
Immensity, cloistered in thy dear womb
