Readings: Hebrews 9:1-10
Gospel: Matthew, 16:13-20 (English & Lebanese):
"Who do people say that
I am? Who do you say that I am?" This is a question with
double faces, asked by Jesus who waited for the answer. Jesus
gave Peter the grace because of the right answer he gave. Jesus
cared about people's opinion in him. But this wasn't an obstacle
for his Mission. This question opens for us new and wide horizons.
It is very important to know
what people think of us. If it is wrong we can fix it. If it
is right we have to work on making it better. "Who do YOU
say that I am?" Peter's answer came to him by an inspiration
from heaven. Jesus beatified Peter and gave him the keys of the
Kingdom of heaven. We, as community of faith, are invited to
answer that question about Jesus' identity.
If we don't know the answer,
we know that the Church holds the keys of the Kingdom of heaven.
This Kingdom is inside each and everyone of us as said the Lord.
Give yourself to the Church to open your heart and discover the
true identity of Jesus. If we declare openly Jesus' identity
we, too, become a Rock.

O Mary Bright dawn
of the new world
O Mary,
Bright dawn of the new world, Mother of the living,
To you do we entrust the cause of life; look down, O mother,
Upon the vast numbers of babies not allowed to be born,
Of the poor whose lives are made difficult, of men and women
Who are victims of brutal violence, of the elderly and the sick
killed
By indifference or out of misguided mercy. Grant that all who
believe in your Son may proclaim the Gospel of life with honesty
and love to the people of our time. Obtain for them the grace
to accept that Gospel as a gift ever new, the joy of celebrating
it with gratitude throughout their lives and the courage to bear
witness to it resolutely in order to build, together with all
people of good will, the civilization of truth and love, to the
praise and glory of God, the Creator and lover of life. Amen.
