Sunday of the Renewal of the Church

Readings: Hebrews 9:11-15

Gospel: John, 10:22-42 (English & Lebanese):

In the Book of Revelations, John says: "I, John, saw the Holy City, the New Jerusalem." This holy city is the triumphant Church in heaven where all the saints are enjoying eternal happiness after they conquered the Church' s enemies on earth. For this reason they were called by St. John "The New Jerusalem" where these saints are renewed in sanctity and glory. This new city is always illuminated by God's glory; there is no darkness but a permanent daylight; there is no sadness or tiredness, but eternal bliss. Only the righteous ones from every tribe are allowed to enter it.

This city's citizens see God's face and reign eternally. Let us as faith community be renewed by good behavior so we could reign there, with all the saints. This week and next week are consecrated for the Church, its renewal, and its consecration. These two weeks conclude a Liturgical Year and start a new one. This Sunday, the Church reveals to us the sacrament of renewal, which we live each time we hear the voice of the Lord and we respond.

November is the month consecrated for the faithful departed prayers. We will pray every night the faithful departed Rosary and Litany at 5:45PM every evening.

English Choir: All children interested in participating in the choir please register your names on the sheet provided at the Church entrance. The choir will be led by Mrs. Sharon Saad. We will call those registered for the time and date of the practice.

Our deepest sympathies to the Youssef Family on the loss of Emile Youssef who passed away in Lebanon at the age of 75. The Memorial Mass will be held in St. Peter's Church, Windsor on Sunday November 10, 2002 at 3:00PM. May God rest his soul in peace and grant consolation to his family and relatives.

Journey to the Father: St. Anthony's parish is celebrating the Opening of the Jubilee Year of the Rosary with a Journey to the Father through Mary, Our Lady of the Rosary on Thursday November 7th, 2002. All are welcome to attend and be blessed by the presence of Our Lady of the Cape.
