Readings: Colossians, 2: 6-15 Gospel: John,
20: 19 - 5 (English & Lebanese):
St. Paul exhorts us to live in Christ. To do this, we must constantly
die to ourselves. Through our lives and actions and mostly through
our attitude toward life. We must say with John the Baptist:
"He must increase, but I must decrease." This is the
call of every Christian. To die to self and to live in the love
of Christ: These are just nice words that Christians say. They
are realities that all the saints lived. We, as Christians, are
also called today to make these nice words real in our lives.

The Visitation of
Mary
May 31
Celebrated between the feasts of the Annunciation
(March 25) and the Birth of John the Baptist (June 24), the feast
of the Visitation originated in the Church of the Middles Ages.
It recalls Mary's visit to her cousin, Elizabeth, after the angel
announced that she was to be the mother of Jesus. Filled with
the Holy Spirit, these two great women recognized the power of
God at work in their midst. "Blessed are you among women,"
Elizabeth said, "and blessed is the fruit of your womb."
Mary replied:
"My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit
rejoices in God my Saviour for he has looked with favour on his
lowly servant. From this day all generations will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me, and holy is his Name.
He has mercy on those who fear him in every generation. He has
shown the strength of his arm, he has scattered the proud in
their conceit. He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,
and has lifted the lowly.
