June, 3, 2001 PENTECOST SUNDAY Readings: Acts, 2: 1-13 Gospel: John, 14: 15 - 20 (English & Lebanese):
In today's Gospel's, Jesus says: "I will ask the Father and he will give you another advocate to be with you always, the Spirit of Truth, which the word cannot accept." (John, 14:16-17) The world truly does not accept the Truth and reality. The world prefers to live in lies. We have statistics that often exaggerate when in trouble. We tell "White lies." God creates everything with a purpose and design. God, in his infinite wisdom created our tongue, so that we could speak the truth not so that we can tell lies. It is contrary to the nature of our tongues, created by God, to tell a lies, any lie. A Saint once said: "It is better for the whole world to go up in flames than for two men to tell a lie." Jesus said to his disciples: "If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free." (John, 8:31-32) Let us live in true freedom by heeding the words of Christ and believing interiority that is only the truth, not lies, that set us free.

Our deepest sympathies to the Raad, Sleiman & Sassine Families on the loss of Tannous Badaoui Raad who passed away in Lebanon, on Saturday, May 26, 2001. The Memorial Mass was held in St. Anthony's Parish today, Sunday, June 3rd, 2001. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to his family and relatives. May God rest his soul in peace and grant consolation for his family in Canada and Lebanon.
London Diocesan Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary in honour of Our Lady begins its third year at its new location - St. Patrick's Church, 5773 10th Line Raleigh, near Merlin, ON. Pilgrimage Dates are scheduled for July 2, 13 and 16 and for August 13 - 22 (Ten consecutive days). The day begins at 11:00AM with the celebration of Holy Mass followed by prayers for the sick, lunch, Rosary, Procession with the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary and benediction. It ends around 3:00PM. Please bring a lawn chair and your own lunch as nothing is sold at the Shrine. For further information, please call Fr. Michael Dwyer at 519-689-7760.
