The Pastoral Leadership Studies Program is offering the following course: PL 108- Parish Administration: This course aims to make the Participant familiar with the position of the parish administrator in the Diocese of London. Among other things, this course will look at the development of parishes, clustering, communication and conflict-resolution skills, how to deal with situations of crisis, discretion, hospitality, and a number of other management skills. Ten consecutive Thursdays, 7:10PM, St. Peter's Seminary, beginning Sept. 6th. Instructor: Bernardine Ketelaars. This Program is sponsored by the Diocese of London, King's College and St. Peter's Seminary. This course may be taken separately or as part of the Pastoral Leadership Studies Certificate Program. London Diocesan Shrine in honour of Our Lady of the Rosary begins its third year at its new location - St. Patrick's Church, 5773 10th Line Raleigh, near Merlin, Ontario. Pilgrimage Dates are scheduled for July 2, 13 and 16 and for August 13 - 22 (ten consecutive days). The day begins at 11:00AM with the celebration of Holy Mass followed by prayers for the sick, lunch, Rosary procession with a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and Benediction. Our deepest sympathies to the George family on the loss of Badiha Iskandar George who passed away in Lebanon on Tuesday, August 7, 2001 at the age of 88. A Memorial Mass was held for the rest of her soul in St. Anthony's Parish on Thursday, August 9, 2001 at 6:00PM. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to all her relatives in Canada, United States and Lebanon. May God rest her soul in peace and grant consolation for her family and relatives. New Day: The Catholic Men's Fellowship breakfast has moved to a new day, the last Saturday of each month. These men meet at Roseland Golf and Curling Club at 8:30AM to discuss how God is working in their lives. A guest speaker and music and prayer make it an enjoyable hour and a half. All are welcome. The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary August 15 On November 1, 1950, Pope Pius X11 declared the Assumption of the Blessed Mother a doctrine of faith. The taking up of the body and soul of the Mother of God into heaven was celebrated in Jerusalem as far back as the fifth century. Gradually, various Churches of East and West made it part of their calendar. Rejoice with the mother of God, with angels and saints, and celebrate this great feast: the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. On earth she was a fruitful virgin, in heaven she intercedes fro all; Through this Blessed Woman, the Spirit's gifts still flow upon us, and her words teach gentle wisdom.
